Dog Parks

dogpark-Tommy-Schumpert-1Most dogs love to socialize and play with other canine friends. Having their own special play area where they can exercise, romp and play, or just rest in a natural setting without a leash is what a dog park is all about. Dog parks provide a large fenced open space, sometimes divided to allow a separate area for small and large dogs and offer a variety of playground features, water fountains, plus benches for their human friends. Knoxville currently has 7 dog parks to enjoy. All but the Downtown Dog Park are within large human parks, so take your pup on a nice leash walk or run as an added treat and then enjoy some romp and play time at the dog park.

DOG PARKS

CONCORD DOG PARK - Knoxville's newest dog park at Concord Park is beautifully layed out on almost 4 acres. Dogs and their owners will love the water fountains for pets (and ones for their owners), a dock with access to the river and even a dog shower. Paved and natural surface walking trails wind through the park. Park is located behind the tennis courts by the Concord Mountain Bike Trails.

DOGWOOD DOG PARK AT VICTOR ASHE PARK - Beautiful hardwoods surround this one-acre off-leash park creating a nice retreat where canine friends can enjoy ramps, tunnels and jumps and then refresh at the doggy fountain. People benches are provided. Take your pet on a leashed walk winding along the paved Victor Ashe Greenway or venture off on the natural surface trails that meander through rolling landscape of Victor Ashe Park.

HOLSTON RIVER DOG PARK - Recent addition to Holston River Park, the one-acre dog park provides owners with the option of releasing their dogs within either a large or small dog section of the new fenced-in, off-leash dog park. Other features include a human water fountain with a dog-level water bowl and spout, benches, and dog waste stations. On a leash your pup will enjoy a walk along the paved loop trail in the main park.

PETSAFE CHARTER DOYLE DOG PARK - Recent addition to Charter Doyle Park, the dog park provides individual areas for large and small dogs. Mature cedar trees and a dog water fountain provide a cool place to have fun during the hot months. On a leash your pup will enjoy a walk along the paved loop trail in the main park.

PET SAFE DOWNTOWN DOG PARK - For downtown dog owners, this is a perfect place to take your city dog to enjoy a little bit of nature. There are separate sections for small and large dogs, human and dog water fountains and a fun variety of play stations.

PETSAFE TOMMY SCHUMPERT DOG PARK - There are two off-leash areas within the dog park area at Tommy Schumpert Park. The 30# and under area allows smaller dogs to mingle together while the second fenced area is open to dogs of any size. The small dog park is a mix of grass and mulch along with people benches. The "all sizes" dog area has a mulched walking trail and a large pond with a dock so your dogs can go for a swim during the hot months. Bring lots of towels because the area does get muddy. The main park features a paved loop for on-leash walks and connects to the Sterchi Hills Greenway for longer excursions.

PETSAFE VILLAGE DOG PARK - Knoxville's first public dog park, this 1-acre facility is an on leash park but offers off leash hours only in the evenings when the park is staffed. Features include a natural pond, full set of agility equipment, walking trails, doggy water fountain plus picnic tables and benches.
