Just minutes away from the University of Tennessee's campus, Tyson Park provides a wide array of recreational opportunities. Families and friends gather at the accessible playground and 3 large shelters while sporting fans enjoy the two softball fields and 14 tennis courts with 2 practice walls. Abutting the park, the Knoxville Skate Park, is a Tony Hawk Foundation skatepark where the famed Tony Hawk, himself, paid a visit showcasing his skateboarding skills in October 2010. The Third Creek Greenway which bisects Tyson Park, connects the Neyland and Bearden Village Greenways, providing commuters and recreational users an east to west thoroughfare for runners, walkers, and cyclists.
