Located on the Morristown side of Cherokee Lake, the rolling hills and valleys that comprise Panther Creek State Park provide many scenic miles of trail for hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers and equestrians. Their scenic waterfront invites paddlers and fishermen. Wildlife is prevalent — you might spy white-tailed deer, beaver, barred owls or bald eagles. The park offers a variety of other activities to enjoy. There are tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball courts, a softball field, horseshoes, playground and a swimming pool. Campers will find 50 campsites complete with water, electrical hook-ups, grills, picnic tables, fire rings, Wi-Fi and bathhouse facilities with hot showers. A laundromat is also available.

Equestrians: Horses are allowed on 11.2 miles of moderate to difficult trails that go from shoreline to ridgetop. Owners must have on hand current Coggins papers for each horse. Parking for horse trailers is in the parking area off Panther Creek Road, just to the west of Boat Ramp Road. There are maps there that show the path to the horse trails.

Fishing: Cherokee Lake provides year-round catches of bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish and bream. Rock fishing is particularly good and it is not uncommon to catch 20 and 30-pound fish

Hiking: Hikers are permitted on all 28.6 miles of singletrack and dirt road trails that wind through the park. Views abound!

Mountain Biking: Ranging from easy to difficult, the 10.2 miles of mountain bike trails offer something for all levels. These trails are shared with hikers.

Paddling: From the boat ramp paddlers can enjoy the beautiful waters of the Cherokee Lake. Check out the little islands and find one to enjoy a picnic stop. During the summer months, River Sports Outfitters, rents Canoes, Kayaks & SUP boards at Panther Creek on the weekends!
