The scenic walking trail that loops Thomas "Tank" Strickland Park crosses a small creek and passes by two overlook points.  Showcasing several innovative amenities, the park features an amphitheater with grass seating and a shade arbor, bronze children reading a book together on a park bench, and the county’s first bocce ball court. To play the game, check out a bocce ball set from the Burlington Branch Library next door.

At the dedication of this park in 2010, Mayor Ragsdale commented "I hope that the families who come to enjoy themselves in Strickland Park are raising another generation of leaders who are as committed and as kind-hearted as Chairman Strickland" (referencing Knox County Commission Chairman Thomas "Tank" Strickland).
