No matter what season or mode of travel — hiking, trail running or mountain biking — it’s engaging to meander along the more rugged terrain of wooded forests and open fields. Within this natural habitat, trails may wind past scenic vistas, waterfalls, historic settlements and/or geological wonders. With each season a new color palette is displayed with glimpses into the seasonal activities of birds, insects and mammals. Be adventurous, wander out in the rain, snow, fog, the trail will take on a new appearance, a new experience. Within Knoxville's metro area, there are numerous trails to explore and enjoy, even a few peaks and bluffs with their awe inspiring views. Traveling outside the city limits await bountiful trail systems in our state and national parks, forests, and wildlife management areas.
