Just 10 minutes from downtown you can drive to the top of Sharp's Ridge Memorial Park for the best view of our skyline and the distant mountain peaks. The multi-use trail makes an approximate 3-mile loop winding on a lower and upper trail across the wooded hill. There are currently no signs for the two trailheads. The bottom trailhead is located just across the road from the first picnic area. For the top trailhead, drive to the parking area at the very end of the road and the trailhead is to the left of the cell tower. There is also a trailhead that goes to the lower trail on the right of the cell tower just past the gate. The upper trail is about 1.2 miles in length, connecting the bottom parking area to the top. The lower trail offers a loop option and is approximately 2 miles long. The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club is currently building new trails along the ridge. When finished the proposed trail system will have an estimated 8 miles of singletrack trail. Join them for a workday!
Birdwatchers might want to join one of the Knoxville Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society's bird walks.
